Dal Lake is one of the prime attractions in Srinagar and is spread over an area of 26sq km and has four interconnected basins- Bod Dal, Nagin, Gagribal, and Lokut Dal. Dal lake is the second largest lake in Jammu and Kashmir and is one of the exotic places to explore in Srinagar. Due to its serene location, incredible vistas of awe-inspiring hills, the distant snow-capped mountains, and gorgeous shikars, this beautiful Dal lake is also one of the perfect locations for film shooting. Around 20 films have been shot around this serene Dal Lake.

The major attraction of this tranquil Dal lake is the Shikaras peacefully sailing on the lake, the beautiful houseboats, and yes the floating vegetable market. Another prime attraction here is the floating garden known as Radamid the lake blooming with beautiful lotus flowers in July and August. On the other hand, winters here are cold as the temperature drops down to -10 degrees Celcius making Dal Lake frozen.

Enjoy shopping at the famous floating market in Dal Lake for an unmatchable experience. The vibrant floating market is set against the serene backdrop, making it a paradise for photographers. The floating garden in the natural wetlands of Srinagar is the major source of vegetable cultivation and these fresh vegetables are sold on the floating Shikara boats on Dal lake.

2. Shikara Ride

Dal lake is renowned for its Shikara ride. Just row around the lake and witness the sunset in all its glory. The charges for a ride vary from INR 150 to 600 per person. One can enjoy their Shikara ride on any day of the week from 5 am to 6 pm.

3. Dal Lake Houseboat

The experience of staying in houseboats in Dal lake is truly alluring. The houseboats have the best furnishing and feature amenities like wifi facility and meal facility.
